Glide Waxing
We've assembled some resources that can help you learn to apply glide wax, or improve your glide waxing skills. While there is no substitute for working directly with an experienced waxer, there are basic principles to keep in mind while you learn:
Always clean your ski bases before waxing.
A proper amount of heat bonds hard wax into your bases. Too much heat burns your bases. Heat transferred to your ski is a function of iron temperature and time the iron is in contact with the ski. Thusly:
Select proper iron temperature for the wax you are using (typically 2-10℃ above wax melting point)
Keep your iron moving on the ski.
If some wax is not melted on the first pass, wait until ski is fully cooled before making another pass with the iron.
